Calculations use pixels ÷ inches with orientation matched by short and long edges.

Pixel count cannot measure focus, restored facial identity, colour accuracy, historical detail or printer quality. Changing a density tag alone adds no pixels. This checker does not change your file.

## How To Use

- Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP from your device; the file stays in this browser.
- Read the decoded dimensions and density tags separately.
- Enter the final paper dimensions in inches and compare a PPI planning target.
- Compare crop and border options, inspect detail yourself and request a print proof.

## Common Use Cases

- Check whether a downloaded restoration has enough pixels for a print
- Compare an original scan with a messaging-app copy
- Understand a missing or conflicting embedded DPI tag
- Find the geometric resolution limit before enlarging

## FAQs

Does a 72 DPI tag mean my photo is low quality?

No. The tag suggests a print scale. A 3000 × 2400 pixel photo can fill 10 × 8 inches at 300 PPI regardless of a 72 DPI tag. Focus, compression and authentic detail still need visual review.

Does the checker upload or alter my photo?

No. The selected file is read locally and is not changed. JPEG JFIF/EXIF and PNG pHYs density tags are read from the first 1 MB; WebP density metadata is not supported.

Can it tell whether AI preserved a face?

No. Pixel dimensions and print density do not test identity or historical accuracy. Compare the original and result yourself.
