Check product edges, retain source pixels and plan for square, portrait and landscape thumbnail previews. ## Which dimensions should you use? Etsy recommends listing photos at least 2000 pixels in both width and height. This 3000×2000 landscape canvas is a practical example, not Etsy's required aspect ratio. Review the listing thumbnail views after upload. **3,000 × 2,000 pixels** · Example working canvas. Move the crop to keep faces, products and important text visible. ## Compose this image Leave deliberate room around the whole item, including handles, sleeves or frame corners. Prepare the first image with the other listing photos in mind so their shapes feel consistent. The calculator shows one output rectangle; Etsy's listing thumbnail adjustment remains a separate step. ## A worked example A 2400×2400 source fills this 3000×2000 canvas with a crop of about 2400×1600 source pixels, retaining 66.7% of its area. Filling enlarges the retained pixels by 1.25×; new pixels do not prove new detail. Fill removes top and bottom space and enlarges the remainder; start from a larger landscape original if possible. ## Before you upload - Check that the item is complete and accurately represented. - Inspect source pixels and avoid unnecessary enlargement. - Review square, portrait and landscape thumbnails in the listing editor. “Keep whole image” is also called fit or contain; it adds white borders instead of trimming the scene. The exporter sets pixel dimensions and placement. It does not enforce platform byte limits or predict every device’s display crop.
