Quick answer

## The short version

Align the camera with the page before making a digital correction. Perspective repair can straighten the outline while removing margins, page numbers or edge annotations.

## A capture or editing plan

Capture the whole page with a little space around it and compare opposite edges. Move the camera toward a parallel view when practical. If a correction is needed, inspect all four corners and every margin after the transformation. Check whether straightened text remains readable at the final size. Keep the uncorrected capture so the page boundary can be reconsidered.

## When to change the approach

Straight edges are not enough to approve a scan. The copy must retain the information needed from the page, including notes or marks outside the main text block.

## Worked planning example

Planning example: Automatic correction produces a neat rectangle but cuts off a handwritten number near the lower edge. A wider original capture allows the boundary to be corrected without losing the number.

## If the first attempt fails

If correction stretches letters or loses a footnote, return to the wider original and check the detected corners. Keep all printed margins visible before making a tighter presentation crop. Compare line shapes across the whole page. A new, more parallel capture can be preferable to a strong transformation, particularly when small text or ruled tables become difficult to inspect after the adjustment.

## Before you finish

1. Capture all corners with extra margin.
2. Inspect edge annotations after correction.
3. Check readability as well as straightness.
